As one of my friends would describe it, 'It's the Eve of the Eve of Christmas Eve!' Christmas Day is almost upon us, and 2022, just around the corner. I hope you are all keeping safe and well and have managed to avoid the latest strain of Covid-19, Omicron. Mask-wearing has become mandatory again here in the UK, on public transport, and indoor venues such as cinemas and theatres, shops and supermarkets. The mask that I've been wearing these last few weeks is a rather fetching Rudolph the Reindeer one. It's brought merriment to one or two people who have noticed me wearing it.
So, what have I been up to of late? My head has very much been stuck in my OU module books. This year I'm studying A363 Advanced Creative Writing and in the midst of preparing for my second assignment which is due in the New Year. I've also been contributing articles to the Open University Students Association Students Magazine, The Hoot. The first of which was published in October, entitled What The Open University Means to Me. A personal account of how I came to study with the OU. I was completely surprised that it was voted 'Hoot of The Month' by the OUSA. The second article, The Dog Grooming Philosopher, was written to coincide with International Animal Rights Day, 10 December 2021, and charted my journey retraining as a Dog Groomer whilst studying with the OU.
Currently, I am volunteering for The Book Stop, St Helens, an independent community run book store in my hometown. It has a brilliant atmosphere, where you can come in and browse at your leisure. Whilst there, you can grab yourself a hot drink from 2B, also known as TwoBrothers Coffee, which is fast becoming my favourite coffee shop. The Book Stop is well-stocked with a wide-ranging selection of genres aimed at younger and older readers, and adults, as well as stationery, games, and soft-toys #StHBookStop #livelocalshoplocal.
I am hoping to return to dog grooming in 2022, helping my former manager at Loving Touch Dog Grooming, with one of her pooches. She's doesn't want me to give up on my dream, and wants to re-introduce me slowly but surely.
On my movie hit-list, is Clifford The Big Red Dog, starring Darby Camp, Jack Whitehall, and John Cleese, amongst others. I will be sure to post a review after I have seen it.
Anyway, take good care of you and I will take good care of me. I shall see you all in 2022!
