Review of 'Clifford The Big Red Dog' (2021)...

I finally managed to get to my local Cineworld to watch Clifford The Big Red Dog, directed by Walt Becker. The movie is based on Norman Bridwell's children's book series of the same name, published by Scholastic Books. With a stellar cast including, amongst others: Darby Camp as Emily; Jack Whitehall as Casey, Emma's uncle; Sienna Guillory as Emily's mum; John Cleese as Bridwell, and Izaac Wang as Owen. And not forgetting the four-legged star of the show, Clifford.

Clifford's story begins with him as a puppy being separated from his mother, and siblings; when two men from the dog pound show up at an abandoned warehouse and take them to the shelter. Clifford, having crawled out of a sack that he was hiding in, makes a monumental effort to escape and track down his pack. He ends up wandering the streets of New York City, and having dodged several taxi cabs, finds a safe haven with Bridwell in a local park. Whilst Emily's mum is out of town on a work trip, Emily is left under the care of her uncle Casey. On her way to school one morning, Emily spots Bridwell's Animal Rescue in a local park, and there she meets Clifford for the first time. Once those puppy dog eyes come out, there is no turning back for Emily.

Chaos soon ensues, after Emily discovers that Clifford is in her school bag. Emily awakes the next morning to discover the tiny, mischievous pup, who snuggled down to sleep in her arms; is now very much the big red dog; with his adorable face looming over her. Can Emily persuade her uncle Casey to keep Clifford? Another movie I'm looking forward to, is DOG (2022), directed by Reid Carolin and Channing Tatum; released in UK cinemas on 18 February 2022. Army ranger Briggs (Tatum) is paired up with Lulu, a Belgian Malinois. Will their Pacific Coast road trip get them on time to their fellow soldier's funeral? Take good care of you and I'll take good care of me xxx
